BISMARCK (AP) — The Central Dakota Humane Society says it rescued 34 dogs from a regional breeder, many of which were in poor health.

Shelter Director Sue Buchholz said the society made a special arrangement to buy the dogs for $100 each. She said nine are at a shelter in Jamestown and 25 are at the shelter in Mandan.

Buchholz said many of the dogs have “really, really bad teeth” and tangled hair.

She said the dogs are being groomed and checked out by a veterinarian.
