Swartz purchases Dardis Realty in Jamestown

Dardis Realty, previously owned and operated since the 1970s by John Dardis, has been sold to Michael Swartz. Dardis Realty is a full-service real estate company offering sales, market analysis and property management. Swartz, originally from Minnesota, was raised in Starbuck, Minn.

Although new to the business in Jamestown, Swartz is neither new to James-town nor new to the real estate business.

He was first licensed as a real estate person in 1977 while still in college. Upon graduation, he eventually joined his brothers, Dan and Greg, in a real estate business in Starbuck. At that time, they were affiliated with United Farm Agency Real Estate which had more than 600 offices nationwide. In 1981 and 1982, they were the top office nationally with United Farm Agency Real Estate. In 1983, they founded Swartz Brothers Associates, Inc.

Throughout his career, Michael Swartz has had experience in selling many types of property, including farms, recreational land, lake properties, homes, businesses and commercial properties.

Management experience includes agricultural, commercial, multi-family and single family homes. Swartz also has built several houses and developed several residential and lake shore plats.

Shortly after meeting his future wife, Alberta Martin Swartz, who is a teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, he purchased a home in Jamestown. Swartz continued to invest in real estate in the Jamestown area in the following years.

When Dardis Realty became available, Swartz said it seemed appropriate for him to purchase it. However, before reaching a decision, he spoke with Laurie Julian, Katherine Anderson, Laurie Good and Gordon Christianson to inquire if they would continue with Dardis Realty. Swartz expressed his appreciation to Pat Dardis for trusting him with the Dardis Realty name.
