Pirates’ Benz leads all-tournament team

Kidder County’s Eli Benz, the most valuable player at the North Dakota State Class B girls basketball tournament, and Lindsey Sand headline the all-tournament team.

GRAND FORKS (AP) — Kidder County’s Eli Benz, the most valuable player at the North Dakota State Class B girls basketball tournament, and Lindsey Sand headline the all-tournament team.

Benz made the game-winning basket at the buzzer to beat Fordville-Lankin-Park River, giving the Pirates their first state championship.

Lexi Erickson, Katie Ralston and Tessa Zahradka of the runner-up Flyers made the squad, as did Casey Geffre of Hankinson, Shelby Wetzel of New Rockford-Sheyenne, Shauna Long of Standing Rock, Kendra Miller of Kenmare and Allison Opp and Stef Bohrer of Hazen.
