James Richter

James Herbert Richter, 68, Edgeley, N.D., died Friday, March 6, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Mr. Richter was born Oct. 27, 1940, at Bismarck, N.D., the son of Herbert and Tina (Koberstein) Richter.

Mr. Richter was born Oct. 27, 1940, at Bismarck, N.D., the son of Herbert and Tina (Koberstein) Richter. He grew up and attended school at Hazen, N.D., graduating from Hazen High School in 1958. He attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, for one year and then worked for the North Dakota Highway Department. He married Karen (McCommon) Remboldt on July 3, 1973, at Aberdeen, S.D. They lived in Jamestown and then moved to Aberdeen, S.D., in 1975 where he worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. They moved to Lakeview, Ore., in 1981 where he worked for the U. S. Forest Service until he retired in 1994. She died Aug. 31, 1996. He moved to Edgeley in 1996. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Edgeley. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, especially elk hunting in Oregon.

He is survived by a stepson, Rusty (Teresa) Remboldt, Gackle, N.D.; a stepdaughter, Holly (David) Wald, Edgeley; a sister, Carolyn (Myron) Seitz, Edgeley; five stepgrandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, his stepfather, David Zuern, and an infant brother.

Memorial service: planned in the spring at Krem Cemetery, north of Hazen. Arrangements by Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley.
