Load restrictions likely soon in N.D.

North Dakota may see a rapid warming pattern next week, which may cause load restrictions to be implemented quickly, according to the state Department of Transportation.

North Dakota may see a rapid warming pattern next week, which may cause load restrictions to be implemented quickly, according to the state Department of Transportation.

As the weather warms this spring, seasonal load restrictions will be placed on North Dakota state highways. Truckers should consider moving their heavy loads before load restrictions are put into place.

The NDDOT normally places load restrictions on some state highways from mid-March to mid-May, depending on weather. Restrictions are lifted when roadbeds have stabilized enough to carry normal traffic.

Up-to-date seasonal load restriction information is available on the Internet, by dialing 511 or with the load restriction e-mail update feature on the NDDOT Web site, www.dot.nd.gov.

The proposed 2009 restriction map is located on the Web and can be found at http://www.dot.nd.gov/roadreport/loadlimit/loadlimitinfo.asp.
