Marijuana found in Casselton home

Cass County officials say they found about 50 marijuana plants hidden in a basement room in a Casselton home.

CASSELTON, N.D., (AP) — Cass County officials say they found about 50 marijuana plants hidden in a basement room in a Casselton home.

The sheriff’s office said the owner, 38-year-old Curt Hoffart, was not there when his home was searched earlier this month. He now faces charges that include manufacturing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana and possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

The sheriff’s office credits an alert patrol deputy with information that led to the search. Authorities said they also found three large bags of harvested marijuana in the home.
