I want to acknowledge the work of Pammy Schmiedeberg, exercise specialist at Jamestown Hospital, who assisted with the program and kept track of points. Thank you, Pammy! I would also like to thank the co-sponsors of the program: Jamestown Hospital, North Dakota Farmers Union, Orriginals and the Healthy Lifestyle Coalition.
Finally, I want to acknowledge the collaboration of The Jamestown Sun, which printed our weekly point totals and wellness articles, and to KSJB, which announced the points weekly on the radio.
We hope everyone had fun with the Wellness Challenge. Making lifestyle changes is not easy, but is worth the work. As a fellow parishioner said Sunday, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Congratulations to all of you in your efforts to increase your physical activity, eat healthier, drink less pop and sugary drinks, stay drug free, manage your stress, wear your seat belts and lose weight. We have a final questionnaire that participants are asked to complete on line. When we have the results of the study we will share them with you.
Keep up the good work and strive to maintain your healthy lifestyle until next year when we will challenge you again with the New Year, New You Wellness Challenge 2010.
