Bridge demolition in Mandan to be shown on Discovery Channel

The demolition of the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s old Memorial Bridge will be featured on the Discovery Channel show “The Detonators.”

The demolition of the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s old Memorial Bridge will be featured on the Discovery Channel show “The Detonators.” The program is scheduled to air at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Explosives expert Dr. Paul Worsey reveals the tricks of the trade at the blast of the 2,550 foot long steel bridge that spanned the Missouri river between Bismarck and Mandan.

The first span of the bridge was demolished on Oct. 6, 2008, with the final spans being demolished on Oct. 29, 2008. The old bridge was demolished to make way for the new Memorial Bridge which was dedicated on Nov. 11, 2008.
