Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation’s largest wireless network, has an-nounced that the company has been recognized for the “Highest Call Quality Performance Among Wireless Cell Phone Users in the West JD Power region,” which includes North Dakota, in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study Volume 1.

The semi-annual study measures wireless call quality based on seven problem areas that impact overall carrier performance: drop-ped calls; static/interference; failed connection on the first try; voice distortion; echoes; no immediate voicemail notification; and no immediate text message notification.

“Our reputation as the provider with the nation’s most reliable wireless network is a result of our continued investment of more than a $150 million in North Dakota and our unwavering commitment to turn this investment into quality service im-provements for our customers,” said Nancy Clark, president-Great Plains Region, Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless’ the “nation’s most reliable wireless network” claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company’s national advertising campaign, In 2008, these engineers conducted more than 3 million voice call attempts and more than 22 million data tests on the Verizon Wireless network and other national wireless carriers’ networks while traveling almost 1 million miles across the nation.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed — $5.5 billion on average every year — to expand the coverage and capacity of its nationwide network and to add new service. In 2008, Verizon Wireless invested nearly $21 million to expand and advance its network in North Dakota and has invested $150.3 million in the state from 2001-2008.
