AMENIA, N.D. (AP) — The Highway Patrol says three semis collided on an icy stretch of North Dakota Highway 18 north of Amenia, injuring two drivers and closing down the road for several hours.
The eastern North Dakota road is handling heavy traffic detoured after Interstate 29 closed because of floodwaters. Trooper Dave Erdmann said travel is treacherous because of ice and low visibility.
Erdmann said a southbound semi went over the center line and collided with a northbound semi early Tuesday. Another semi then collided with the others.
Two of the rigs ended up in the ditch and the other jackknifed on the highway.
Erdmann said two drivers were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
