MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Minot's mayor says the city appears to be well protected from the rising Souris River.
Mayor Curt Zimbleman says the city should be prepared for a flow of 5,000 cubic feet per second for about three weeks once the water begins to flow. But outside the city, officials are bracing for more problems.
Ward County Commission Chairman Bruce Christianson says people living west of Minot and in the area of the Eastside Estates subdivision should be prepared for high water. Christianson says the snowpack around Minot has the equivalent of more than 8 inches of water so the creeks will flood.
