Frank A. Fettig, 88, Napoleon, N.D., died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, after a battle with cancer. Mr. Fettig was born was born Aug. 29, 1920, at Napoleon, the son of Anton and Barbara (Schlosser) Fettig.

Frank A. Fettig, 88, Napoleon, N.D., died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Fettig was born was born Aug. 29, 1920, at Napoleon, the son of Anton and Barbara (Schlosser) Fettig. He married Margaret Wald on Oct. 23, 1944 at St. Anthony Church, rural Napoleon. They farmed northeast of Napoleon in Kidder County until 1955 when they sold the farm and moved to Napoleon. He worked at Wentz Chevrolet for 8 years, Farmers Union for 8 years, City Employer and Deputy Police for 2 years and in 1972 joined Napoleon Elementary School as head custodian. He also maintained the City Park for several years. In 1984 he retired from his custodial position and worked part-time for 6 years at the Napoleon landfill. He married Mary (Wald) Laurent on Feb. 24, 1990, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon. Frank entered the Napoleon Care Center on March 17, 2009. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Philip Catholic Church. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, doing yard work and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Fettig, Napoleon; two sons, Frank (Rosanne), Escondido, Calif., and Robert (Jackie), Bismarck, N.D.; three daughters, Mary Ann Porter, Winter Park, Fla., Diane (Tom) Quinn, Dry Ridge, Ky., and Mary Kathy (Dale) Chmielewski, Bismarck; a stepson, Wayne (Joyce) Bridges, Belle Chasse, La.; a stepdaughter, Donna Harsdorff, Gretna, La.; a brother, Joe (Veronica), Napoleon; two sisters-in-law, Betty Fettig and Margaret Fettig; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; and three brothers, Ben, Valentine and John.

Services: 10:30 a.m. today, St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon.

Visitation: already held. Arrangements by Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.

Burial: St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon.
