Midkota opens season with win

Midkota was finally able to get its first game of the season in and opened with a 3-1 win over Lakota in Tolna on Monday. Nic Harding was nearly unhittable on the mound for the Mustangs, getting 16 strikeouts in a complete-game effort. He allowed just two hits and walked three.

Zach Gilbertson had two hits for the Mustangs, who scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings.

Midkota travels to New Rockford on Friday for Region 3 games against Dakota Prairie and Carrington as all three teams attempt to piece together schedules after having to wait nearly a month as the snow melted and diamonds dried out.
