The funeral for Winona Annetta Oberlander, Kulm, ND will be Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Congregational Church at Kulm, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Kulm, ND. Burial will be at the Congregational Cemetery, Kulm, ND.
Winona Widmer, daughter of George and Lydia (Elhard) Widmer was born April 9, 1931 on the farm west of Fredonia, ND. She attended rural school in Nathan District. Winona was employed with Arts Super Valu and later Dell Palms Department store. She married LeRoy Oberlander on November 13, 1955. They lived on a farm 6 miles southwest of Kulm, ND. They attended the First Congregational church, Kulm, where she was church pianist and a member of the Dorcas Society. In January of 1987, Winona moved into Kulm after LeRoy went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 1986. Winona had a gift of playing piano by ear. She often accompanied accordionists, Don Laeger and Rueben Wolf. She was a member of the Kulm Legion Auxiliary, Friendship Club and Friendship Chorus. Winona was employed by the Kulm Messenger and Gift shop and Kusler Greenhouse. For the last 9 months Winona was a resident of the Prince of Peace Care Center at Ellendale, ND due to illness.
Winona Annetta Oberlander went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Avera St. Luke’s Hospital at Aberdeen, SD. She was 78 years old.
Winona is survived by two daughters, Mavis (Rodney) Brosz, Kulm, ND; MarCene (Donovan) Roth, Meridian, ID; Grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Brosz, West Fargo, ND; Corrie (Derek) Johnson, Fargo, ND; Cayla (Jeremy) Honl, Fargo, ND; Bryndon Roth, Meridan, ID; great-grandsons, Ethan and Jonah Johnson, Fargo, ND; one sister, Lenora (Kermit) Herman, St. Louis Park, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, her parents, two brothers, Royal and Elmer, one sister, LaVerna and twin siblings who died in infancy. Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Kulm, ND entrusted with arrangements.
