LaMOURE, N.D. (AP) — The state Game and Fish Department is closing access to Lake LaMoure for at least two weeks due to erosion.

The department said the lake’s emergency spillway is eroded and stabilization work is needed.

Game Warden Mark Pollert said watercraft is banned from the lake until further notice.

Pollert said officials don’t want people trying to retrieve personal property that washed away during flooding. He said debris is floating all over the lake, but people will have to wait to get to it until the restrictions are lifted.

Lake LaMoure is about four miles south of the city of LaMoure, on Cottonwood Creek. The creek flows into the James River.
