Letter to the editor: Quiet zone is a chance to help out our downtown

The issue of how to help the downtown of Jamestown was number one in a survey that was taken back in 2003 or 2004. While we have made considerable progress in recent years in adding new and great businesses to our downtown, we still need to make additional improvements.

The issue of how to help the downtown of Jamestown was number one in a survey that was taken back in 2003 or 2004. While we have made considerable progress in recent years in adding new and great businesses to our downtown, we still need to make additional improvements.

Voting “Yes” on the quiet zone on May 5 is one of those steps that will improve not only the downtown but also the quality of life for everyone in Jamestown.

Sen. Dave Nething has worked very hard to obtain state funding for the quiet zone that will help to reduce the cost to just $1 per year for the average homeowner. It is a small price to pay to have the ability to carry on a conversation near downtown when a train goes through Jamestown. I would urge that you vote “Yes”!
