The Cardinals took the opener 3-2 behind Cody Bender, who had 10 strikeouts in a complete-game win. He also had a solo home run in the top of the first inning.
Jake Miller allowed just three hits for the Pirates, but was saddled with the loss. Adam Randall went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and run.
Down 3-0 after two innings, the Pirates scored three in the fourth and fifth to rally for a 6-3 win.
Randall doubled twice and had three RBIs for the Pirates. Wes Nicholson, the third of three Kidder County pitchers, got the win. He also went 2-for-2 and scored twice.

Ten of Harvey’s 12 runs were unearned in a 12-2 win over Midkota in a game played in McVille.
Cody Rogelstad went the distance on the mound and connected for first-inning grand slam for the Hornets. Michael Leier also had two hits for Harvey.
Josh Hegvik and Logan Harding each had two hits for Midkota, which takes on New Rockford-Sheyenne today.
