The Jamestown High School Economics Challenge team took fifth place out of 11 schools competing at the regional challenge in Houston on April 27.

The team was comprised of seniors Barb Trautman, Nick Graves, Lindsey Kautzman and Tate Carlson.

Carlson tied for seventh place in individual test score. He plans to attend the University of North Dakota next year and study engineering.

The first-place team was from Little Falls High School in Little Falls, Minn.

The students said they all had a good time and enjoyed competing against teams of a higher economic caliber, said Marchel Krieger, team coach and economics and social studies teacher at Jamestown High School.

While in Houston the team found time to relax and see some sites including the Downtown Aquarium, and a Houston Astros game, Krieger said.
