FARGO (AP) — Fargo won the fight against the flooding Red River. Now, another battle is under way.

Cass County Engineer Keith Berndt said officials have started treating standing water to kill mosquitoes.

He said mosquito control teams will have a big job to do because of the countless ponds created by flood-waters. Standing water creates ideal breeding grounds for the pests.

But Berndt said a long dry spell could cut into the mosquito population.
