About four or five students were involved with an altercation in the Jamestown High School lunch area Wednesday, according to the James-town Police De-partment.
The incident was under control when police arrived around noon, said Police Chief Dave Donegan.
The reasons for the altercation are still under investigation.
“When the officers arrived, the students that were involved were in the principal’s office,” said Lt. John Gletne of the police department.
Rumors and initial re-ports of a “riot” made the incident sound more serious than it was, Donegan said.
“This was a feud between two kids right in the lunchroom,” said Sgt. Leroy Gross, detective.
Bill Nold, Jamestown High School principal, said he’d received calls from several parents and concerned citizens.
The school does not anticipate future problems, Nold said, and parents should feel safe sending students to class today.
