Knights crowned champs of Region 3
The Dakota Prairie Knights were crowned Class B baseball’s Region 3 champs on Tuesday, after storming past the New Rockford-Sheyenne Black Sox 11-0 in the title tilt at Harvey’s L.C. Loerch Field. The Dakota Prairie Knights were crowned Class B baseball’s Region 3 champs on Tuesday, after storming past the New Rockford-Sheyenne Black Sox 11-0 in the title tilt at Harvey’s L.C. Loerch Field.
Kyle Lamb came up huge for the Knights during the game. The junior pitcher shut out the Sox by recording 10 of the five-inning game’s 15 outs by way of strike out, and also went 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
Dakota Prairie scored three runs in the second inning and eight runs in the third. Brody Morken went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs for the Knights, while Dakota Prairie’s Alex Kroke went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Marc Guler shouldered the loss for the Sox on the mound. The Sox’s Stephen Guler went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk.
The Knights will be rolling on to the State Class B baseball tournament, scheduled to get underway at Mandan on May 28.
Prior to Tuesday’s championship game, New Rockford-Sheyenne needed to first get past Harvey-Wells County in semifinal action.
After being tied at 2-2 after four innings, the Sox scored one run in the fifth and one run in sixth to sneak past the Hornets 4-3.
NR-Sheyenne’s Shane Stafford was the game’s winning pitcher, throwing nine strikeouts and allowing just two walks over a complete game. The Sox’s Evan Guler went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Harvey-WC’s Jacob Goldade was tagged with the loss on the hill. The Hornets’ Caleb Rogelstad went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Region 8 Tourney
After falling behind 4-0 to Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton after two innings, the Kidder County-Napoleon-Wing Pirates drove in 15 unanswered runs over the next three innings to defeat the Cardinals 15-4 in loser out action of the Region 8 Class B baseball tournament in Steele on Tuesday.
The Pirates’ starting pitcher Jake Miller only allowed two earned runs to the Cardinals, holding W-W-C-S scoreless over the final three innings and ending the win with six strikeouts. Adam Randall went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI to lead the Pirates at the plate.
The Cardinals’ Mitch Wachendorf and Cody Durkee each went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Wachendorf shouldered the loss on the mound.
