Parents of the couple are John and Monica Backer, Courtenay, N.D., and Chip and Vera Sorber, Dallas, Pa.
Backer is attending Clackamas Community College, Oregon City, Ore., studying horticulture. She is employed by City Gardeners, Portland,
Sorber is a 2003 graduate of King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He is employed by the city of Troutdale (Ore.) Parks Department.
A July 2 wedding is planned at McMenamins Edgefield, Troutdale.
