GRAND FORKS — Two brothers are charged in the killing of a bald eagle on the Spirit Lake reservation late last year.
A federal indictment charges 44-year-old James Robertson with killing the protected eagle and his 51-year-old brother, Kim Robertson, with buying it. Prosecutor Keith Reisenauer says both have pleaded not guilty but James Robertson is expected to change his plea.
James Robertson also is charged with illegally possessing a gun, after a 1996 conviction of sexually abusing a child.
