Letter to the editor: Conrad doesn’t see that liberalism caused crisis

Sen. Kent Conrad (reportedly being investigated by the FBI in the Countrywide corruption scandal) wants investigations into the cause of our financial mess. Just send him a mirror.
The socialist Democratic Party’s Community Reinvestment Act still requires banks to issue home loans based on race to unqualified borrowers. This provided a spark by bankrupting Fannie, Freddie and the financial industry. Government overspending, overregulation and heavy taxation fueled the implosion.
For decades politicians of both parties have been buying their elections with social welfare programs and pork. People are voting themselves money out of the public coffers (A.K.A. the pockets of others). There was no free market economy. It’s being crushed by the welfare state. Atlas is beginning to shrug.
Conrad supports entitlements, pork, bailouts, stimulus bills to create temporary government jobs, socialized medicine, overregulation, blocking drilling, blocking real energy production, letting the George Bush tax cuts expire, future tax hikes, cap and trade carbon taxes and massive deficits. Now he wants to slap us with a national sales tax.
Conrad believes that nations can be taxed and spent into prosperity even though world history shows that heavy taxation always results in poverty. Look at Europe and China. Conrad believes that handcuffing businesses and consuming money out of the economy creates jobs and economic growth. He doesn’t understand economics.
Conrad and fellow Democrats are doubling down on our failures at the cost of trillions of dollars a month, 16,000 lost jobs per day and a shrinking economy. If they succeed our economy and our republic will fail.
The proven solution is deep cuts in spending, tax cuts, cutting regulations, real energy production and unleashing the American people. Our current congressional delegation won’t allow any of this. They are replacing the failed liberal policies of Bush with the failed policies of Karl Marx.
