Mark Jonathan Biss, 50, Bismarck, ND died June 10, 2009 after a long hard battle with lung cancer. Mark passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. A pot luck benefit is being held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 14, 2009 at the VFW Hall in Ana-moose. A memorial service will be held at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Anamoose at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 16, 2009. There will be no visitation as it was Mark’s request to be cremated.
Mark was born on March 13, 1959 in Fullerton, CA, the son of Herbert O. and Leona (Kubler) Biss. He was raised and attended High School in Anamoose, ND and made his home in Bismarck where he lived until his death. Mark worked in heavy equipment construction for most of his life. He dearly loved North Dakota for its quality of life and strong family values. He loved spending time with his family and also hunting and especially ice fishing with his best friends. Mark was known to be incredibly generous and always put other people’s problems before his own. His love of entertaining others led him to fulfill his passion of playing the guitar during the last few years of his life. He was also a great storyteller and known as the man with the best sense of humor in North Dakota.
He is survived by one brother, Craig Biss (Peggy), of Bend OR, two sisters, Kathryn Hampton-Kiger (Steve), Hesperia, CA and Sandra Anderson (Dave), Edgeley, ND, seven nephews and nieces and more than a thousand friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
