Heritage Singers to perform at Goodrich

Germans from Russia Heritage Society, James-town Valley Chapter, had a meeting and elected officers. The meeting was held at the Jamestown Arts Center. Officers elected were President Betty Brosz, Vice President Odella Mathias, Secretary Lillian Schlecht, Treasurer Yvonne Wegner. Board members are Helen Hillius, Doreen Larson, Paul Janke, Eugene Lang, Lucille Kennedy and Lavina Kleese.

The meeting included sharing hobbies, Ron Brost shared his poem that he had written for the state’s 100th anniversary and had recited at the Bismarck Capitol grounds. The Title was “Life in the 30s.” The hosts were Evanda Steigle and Julie and Kevin Wayne. Forthcoming ev-ents were discussed such as taking the float to Napoleon, N.D., for its 125th celebration, cleaning Folk Park and helping with the Arts Center flower plot.

The German Heritage Singers will be performing at Goodrich for the company’s culture week.

Germans from Russia international convention will be hosted Sept. 9-14, by the Black Hills Chapter at Rapid City, S.D.

The theme will be “living our grandparents’ dreams.”
