City cleanup plans in works

The City Council’s Public Works Committee opted to forego the traditional city-wide cleanup this year, but will provide some kind of cleanup plan for residents.

The City Council’s Public Works Committee opted to forego the traditional city-wide cleanup this year, but will provide some kind of cleanup plan for residents.

Councilman Ken Schulz said he’s received a number of calls wanting to know what was happening with the yearly city-wide cleanup. He added the people just wanted to know.

“If ever we needed it, it would be this year, but city staff is stretched to the max,” Schulz said. “I’m willing to chair a committee to organize a cleanup. There are some options I’d like to explore.”

Sanitation Foreman Bill Snyder told the Public Works Committee “cleanup week as we’ve had it is just not possible.” He also recommended that whatever is decided is not carried out until after Labor Day, as everything should be quieter then. The committee agreed.
