LaMoure second at AG Country tourney

LaMoure went 2-1 at the first annual AG Country Summer Classic tournament last weekend, falling 9-1 to Casselton in the championship game.

LaMoure, now 11-5 on the season, defeated Ada, Minn., 11-1 and Wheaton, Minn., 9-1 on Saturday.

In the championship game, Casselton’s Beau Sinner held LaMoure to four hits with nine strikeouts in their 9-1 win.

Jacob Mogen had three of Casselton’s 12 hits in the win.

Brett Hample paced Post 19, going 2 for 3. Ben Holen was saddled with the loss.

Gaige Dunn and Ben Watkins had strong performances on the mound in the first two games of the tournament.

Dunn allowed just a run on four hits with 10 strikeouts in their 11-1 win over Ada, Minn. Holen, Watkins and Cole Gentzkow each had two hits and drove in two runs. Chad Limesand, Devin Olson and Hample were each 1 for 2 two RBIs.

Watkins did it all in Post 19’s 9-1 win over Wheaton, going 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs with the bat and striking out 12 batters with no walks on the mound. He allowed just a run on two hits.

Holen also had four hits, going 4 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Olson was a perfect 4 for 4, driving in three runs with a double. Dunn chipped in with two hits as LaMoure banged out 15 in the game.
