Dollars for Scholars awards scholarships

The Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars chapter awarded $10,025 in scholarships to nine Barnes County North graduating seniors. These recipients were recognized at both North Central campus and Wimbledon-Courtenay campus during graduation ceremonies on May 24.

The Barnes County North Dollars for Scholars chapter awarded $10,025 in scholarships to nine Barnes County North graduating seniors. These recipients were recognized at both North Central campus and Wimbledon-Courtenay campus during graduation ceremonies on May 24.

These scholarships were made possible through numerous named scholarships (donations of $250 or more), game sponsors, the annual patron and alumni mailing, Fun Night and other fundraisers that the BCN Dollars for Scholars chapter participated in.

Students will receive their awards after fulfilling several requirements, including successfully completing a semester of college and providing proof of enrollment for another session.

Rose Diemert, daughter of Cliff and Carla Diemert, received a $1,400 award. Her scholarships were from Jack Egan Family, North Central Education Association and BCN Senior Class. Her future plans include the study of physics at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.

Kelsie Everson, daughter of Ron and the late Denise Everson, received a $1,850 award. Her scholarships were from Jon Klein Memorial, Losee Family (in memory of Solway Oase), Alliance Pipeline, Agrium, and BCN Senior Class. She plans to pursue a field in pre-dentistry at UND.

Leah Hook, daughter of Don and Sherrie Hook, received a $1,025 award. Her scholarships were from Sizer Farms, Dacotah Bank, BCN Senior Class and W-C Seniors. She plans to study exercise science at Valley City State University, Valley City, N.D.

Jenae Kramlich, daughter of Rick and Joan Kramlich, received a $1,250 award. Her scholarships were from Mike and Sally Didier, CM’s Place, Cass County Electric, BCN Senior Class and W-C Seniors. She plans to pursue a field in pre-medicine at Jamestown College, James-town.

Mylee McDowell, daughter of Leah Schulz and Todd McDowell, received a $750 award. Her scholarships were from Leona Schwab Memorial, BCN Senior Class and W-C Seniors. She is planning a future in secondary education.

Chelsey McMillan, daughter of Terry and Betty McMillan, received a $800 award. Her scholarships were from BCN Senior Class and W-C Seniors. She plans to pursue a field in health science at Northland College.

Jared Omdahl, son of Neil and Kay Omdahl, received a $575 award. His scholarships were from Everding Family, Ethan Guscette Memorial, and BCN Senior Class. He plans to study general diesel at Moorhead Technical College, Moorhead, Minn.

Tiffany Rohde, daughter of Scott Rhode and Jodi Hahn, received a $1,400 award. Her scholarships were from Bonnie Didier (in memory of Kermit and Enid Harstad), N.D. Dollars for Scholars, John Deere Seeding and BCN Senior Class. She plans to attend UND.

Shelby Rose, daughter of Dawn and Rob Rose, received a $975 award. Her scholarships were from W-C Faculty, BCN Senior Class, and W-C Seniors. Shelby plans to attend Jamestown College and study biology, with emphasis on pre-physical therapy.

The next meeting of the chapter is tentatively set for 7 p.m. July 20 at the North Central campus library. For more information, call any of the following officers: Jane Hovda, Bev VanOosting, or Julie Sizer.
