FARGO (AP) — A judge says a man who eluded authorities for nearly two years on investment fraud charges must stay in jail until his trial.

Neville Solomon is accused of bilking investors from North Dakota and elsewhere out of millions of dollars. He has pleaded not guilty in federal court to four counts, including wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Solomon filed a motion in Fargo to be released from jail pending trial. U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen Klein rejected the request. She said Solomon would be a “serious risk” to flee if released.

Solomon was a fugitive for about 18 months. Klein said Solomon is a citizen of Guyana who was arrested in Trinidad, and has no ties to the Fargo area.
