William “Bill” P. Romanoski, 80, New Rockford, N.D., died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, N.D.
Mr. Romanoski was born on July 4, 1929, in Eddy County, North Dakota, the son of Joseph and Rose (Kubzik) Romanoski. He attended New Rockford Consolidated and graduated from New Rockford Central High School in 1946. He attended Dakota Business College for two years. He then moved to Monterey, Calif., and worked at a Ford dealership. He married Mary Lesmeister on Sept. 23, 1950, at San Carlos Catholic Church, Monterey. They moved to New Rockford in 1952 and took over the family farm. He purchased the local automotive dealership and renamed it B. R. Chev. & Olds., where he worked until he retired in 1998. They moved to Grand Forks, N.D., in August 2003. She died July 3, 2005. He returned to New Rockford in 2006. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Masons, Eagles Club, Elks and a lifetime member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, playing cards and entertaining.
He is survived by his four sons, Craig (Marian), Apache Junction, Ariz., Steve (Charmain), Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and Randy (Rita) and Jeffry (Melanie), both Kohler, Wis.; three daughters, Linda (Dale) Neil, Kohler, Julie Danduran, New Rockford, and Laurie (Dennis) Ball, Grand Forks; a brother-in-law, John Koch, New Rockford; 20 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford, with the Rev. Bernard Pfau officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
Burial: St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, New Rockford.
Memorials: to Women’s Auxiliary Cemetery Association or New Rockford Ambulance.
