Man charged in purse snatchings

A third Jamestown man has been charged with accomplice to theft of property in relation to two purse snatchings at the Wal-Mart Supercenter this month, according to the James-town Police Department.
Daniel Lee Payne, 23, 316 1/2 Fifth Ave. N.E., allegedly drove the vehicle that picked up David Payne, 23, and/or Christopher Kraay, 21, also of 316 1/2 Fifth Ave. N.E.
Kraay and David Payne were charged with theft of property. They are accused of stealing purses from women on July 9 and July 11, police said.
Police recovered both purses from a ditch south of Jamestown.
Accomplice to theft of property and theft of property are both Class C felonies.
A Class C felony is punishable by a maximum of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
In a separate incident, Daniel Payne, David Payne and Kraay were charged with theft of property.
The three were allegedly involved in the theft a 2001 Yamaha all-terrain vehicle from a vehicle located on Fifth Street Northeast near the 300 block on July 5.
The ATV, worth approximately $500, was recovered on July 12, police said.
