PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say a Pierre couple has been rescued after their canoe capsized on the Missouri River.

Pierre Rescue Squad Capt. Ron Schmidt says the incident was reported around noon Sunday near Echo Point. That's on the Stanley County side of the river, about two miles north of the highway and railroad bridges.

Schmidt says emergency personnel pulled a 41-year-old man from the river. It's unclear if the 42-year-old woman was pulled out, too, or if she was found on the shore.

They were taken to St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Pierre.

State Game, Fish and Parks Conservation Officer John Murphy says they were being treated for ``hypothermic' conditions.
