Pierre-Fort Pierre duo wins Cup Classic

A local fishing duo won the title at the annual Governor’s Cup Walleye Classic on Lake Oahe near Pierre over the weekend. Scott Gregg of Pierre and Shane Ellwein of Fort Pierre had a total catch of 44.57 pounds.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A local fishing duo won the title at the annual Governor’s Cup Walleye Classic on Lake Oahe near Pierre over the weekend.

Scott Gregg of Pierre and Shane Ellwein of Fort Pierre had a total catch of 44.57 pounds.

Chad Lyke of Aberdeen and Rick Schock of Bismarck were second with a total of 38.71 pounds. Lyke also landed the largest walleye of the tournament — a 31-inch fish that weighed 10.9 pounds. Ninety-eight teams competed in the tournament.
