Infected mosquitoes in 2 S.D. counties
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota’s count of human West Nile virus cases remains at two, but this week’s Health Department report shows mosquitoes infected with the virus have been found in two other counties.
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota’s count of human West Nile virus cases remains at two, but this week’s Health Department report shows mosquitoes infected with the virus have been found in two other counties.
The two human cases are in Hughes and Charles Mix counties. The infected mosquito pools are in Beadle and Brookings counties.
Mosquitoes can transmit West Nile virus from sick birds to humans.
Nationally, the CDC reports 14 human cases of West Nile.
