GARRISON, N.D. (AP) — The annual CANDISC bike tour is getting under way in western North Dakota.

CANDISC stands for Cycling Around North Dakota in Sakakawea Country. It starts Sunday at Fort Stevenson State Park. Riders on the 17th tour will cover 422 miles from the state park to Fort Totten and back, returning Saturday.

Director Hillary Berning said this year’s field includes about 400 riders, down from 500 last year. She said the bad economy has kept some out-of-state riders away.
