FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a West Fargo fireworks dealer who pleaded guilty to importing illegal explosives has paid his $50,000 fine to the federal government.
Timothy Hoff of Big Top Fireworks was charged in federal court with engaging in the business of importing explosive materials without a license. Authorities say he imported thousands of so-called display fireworks that exceeded the limits of explosive material for sale to consumers.
U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson sentenced the 63-year-old Hoff in April to two years probation and the $50,000 fine. Court documents filed last week show Hoff paid the fine.
The charge carried a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
