ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A statement from the police chief in Aberdeen indicates that the shooting deaths of a local couple might be a murder-suicide.

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A statement from the police chief in Aberdeen indicates that the shooting deaths of a local couple might be a murder-suicide.

Police Chief Don Lanpher Jr. says preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that 39-year-old Jeanne Haugen was the victim of a homicide, and 39-year-old Dennis Haugen died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

A department spokesman did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.

Police say the couple were found by their teenage son Tuesday night, and the son called 911.
