Moose sighted in southwest N.D.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Southwestern North Dakota has plenty of wild bighorn sheep, bison, deer, elk and antelope. It's not often that moose wander through.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) — Southwestern North Dakota has plenty of wild bighorn sheep, bison, deer, elk and antelope. It's not often that moose wander through.

Two moose have been spotted romping through fields near Belfield.

State Game and Fish Department big game biologist Bruce Stillings says moose sightings in the area are rare. He says he hasn't heard of one in his 10 years on the job.

Most moose in North Dakota are in the Turtle Mountain area in the north central part of the state. Stillings says heavy rain that has affected vegetation in some areas might be prompting moose to look for new habitat.
