The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a man who died after suffering what the patrol believes was a heart attack while driving.

Kenneth Pfeifle, 78, Napoleon, N.D., was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup eastbound on N.D. Highway 34 from Napolean around 10 a.m. Tuesday. He was traveling to his rural farm outside of the town, the patrol said.

He entered the south ditch and struck an approach. The vehicle was totaled, the patrol said.

Whether Pfeufle was wearing a seat belt is unknown.

Pfeifle’s obituary is on this page.
