HARVEY, N.D. (AP) — Severe thunderstorms gave people in Wells and Sheridan counties an early morning wake-up call Friday.

The storms brought winds clocked at 60 mph and scattered hail around the towns of Harvey, Selz, and Martin.

Uprooted trees damaged buildings and spread debris in yards and streets.

Marlene Ripplinger said her farm just north of Harvey was calm around 3:30 a.m., but three hours later, she found a mess.

Ripplinger said five buildings in her yard were nearly destroyed, though her house is still standing.

She believes the damage was caused by straight-line winds.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning Friday night for Stutsman County due to heavy rain. The weather service said radar estimated up to 2 inches per hour fell in the area, including part of Interstate 94.

The warning included the towns of Medina, Buchanan and Cleveland.
