N.D. curlers to play in New Zealand

A North Dakota curler has been named captain for the U.S. team at the New Zealand Winter Games. Twenty-one-year-old Jerod Roland of Petersburg was leaving Monday for the competition that will include teams from eight countries.

PETERSBURG, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota curler has been named captain for the U.S. team at the New Zealand Winter Games.

Twenty-one-year-old Jerod Roland of Petersburg was leaving Monday for the competition that will include teams from eight countries.

Roland was asked to be skip for the team by Richard Maskel of Wisconsin. Roland says the two have competed against one another in several tournaments.

The U.S. team also will include Adam Nathan of Minot and John Lilla, a curler from Wisconsin.
