LANGDON, N.D. (AP) — Two northeastern North Dakota counties are in a legal battle over a dam project.
Pembina County is suing Cavalier County over the $500,000 local share of the $7 million renovation of Renwick Dam on the Tongue River at Icelandic State Park.
Pembina County wants Cavalier County to contribute 57 percent of the local cost of the dam project because that is the percentage of land in the watershed that is located in Cavalier County.
Cavalier County is asking a district judge to dismiss the case. Northeast District Judge Donovan Foughty heard oral arguments Monday and did not immediately make a decision.
