Letter to the editor: Record-setting parade was an incredible sight to see

On Saturday we attended a parade in Casselton, N.D. Not just any parade, but the one that set a record for the Guinness Book of World Records for the number of fire trucks in a parade. The record was set with 181 trucks from all over North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. I would like to congratulate the organizers of the parade, and the two local communities that took part in this record breaker, Gackle and Edgeley. Noticeably lacking were departments from other local communities that for some reason did not take part.
World record events do not happen often in this area. It was remarkable to see departments send representation hundreds of miles to take part. Private collectors also participated from as far away as Oklahoma.
It was exciting to see the camaraderie between departments, and the pride that participating departments showed in their units. Fire departments often do not get enough positive feedback and this was a good opportunity to get the recognition they deserve. I would like to offer my thank you to the participants and to all firefighters for their service.
