Shoebox collection site at St. John’s
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 424 First Ave. S., Jamestown will be the shoebox distribution and collection center available for Jamestown region churches and organizations participating in the 2009 Operation Christmas Child shoebox program for orphans and needy children around the world.

Preprinted shoeboxes will be available for churches and organizations at St. John’s by September 20. Ordinary shoeboxes wrapped in Christmas paper and dollar store plastic shoe boxes may also be used. Filled shoeboxes will be due at the church Nov. 16-19.
Shoeboxes are filled with children’s toys, toiletries, school supplies, candy, and just about anything a child would enjoy. Brochures providing information and directions for packing boxes will be available at St. John’s and may also be obtained at occinfo@ samaritan.org.
Last year, around 260 North Dakota churches and nondenominational organizations packed 15,232 shoeboxes. North Dakota shoe boxes were processed in Minneapolis and forwarded to needy children in Abkhazia, Belize, Cameroon, Kenya, Mauritius, Mongolia, Namibia, Nepal, Niger, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, St. Vincent and Trinidad.
Operation Christmas Child is sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, an international religious and charitable organization headed by Dr. Franklin Graham.
