Fargo school repaired in time

Spring flood damage at Fargo’s Oak Grove Lutheran School has been repaired in time for the start of fall classes. A breach in a Red River dike flooded two buildings at the school’s riverside campus in March, forcing many students to spend the last seven weeks of the spring semester at the school’s south campus.

FARGO (AP) — Spring flood damage at Fargo’s Oak Grove Lutheran School has been repaired in time for the start of fall classes.

A breach in a Red River dike flooded two buildings at the school’s riverside campus in March, forcing many students to spend the last seven weeks of the spring semester at the school’s south campus.

Student Body President Peter Frei said it’s “cool” to be back on the main campus this fall.

Custodians and other staff worked without a day off this month. More than 100 volunteers moved in desks and textbooks to the repaired halls.

Flood damage was estimated at $2 million. The school last week submitted a $1.75 million application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Officials said they hope insurance will cover at least some of the rest.
