Erin Hart picked up a pair of second-place finishes and Kaitlin Walsh had another good day on the diving board to lead Jamestown at the Spartan Invite on Saturday at Fargo North High pool.
Hart was second only to Fargo Shanley standout Lexie Halberstadt in both the 200 IM and 100 backstroke.
Hart easily swam to state-qualifying times in both, touching in 2:20.82 in the IM and 1:02.22 in the back. The time in the IM was slightly better than Friday’s effort.
Walsh cleared the 350-point plateau on the board, totaling a score of 354.35. She finished just five points in back of winner Mairin Jameson of Shanley.
Miah Dabill gave the Jays a 2-3 finish in the backstroke. The freshman finished in time of 1:04.04.
The Blue Jays’ top relay finish in the nine-team meet came in the 400 free, where Jazmin Shafer, Jessica Moritz, Dabill and Hart posted a career-best 4:02.83, beating their 4:05.07 from Friday’s dual here against Minot.
Shafer added a qualifying effort in the 50 free at 27.79, placing 15th. She was also 8th in the 100.
Brianna Johnson and Kamie Wagar each placed in one event.
Johnson’s 1:13.11 in the 100 backstroke was a new PR. Wagar was 15th in the breaststroke (1:20.11).
The 200 medley relay team came in seventh as Hart, Wagar, Moritz and Dabill finished in 2:04.10.
Allison Kramer, Wagar, Skylar Munson and Shafer were ninth in the 200 free (1:56.00).
As a team, the Jays finished with 153 points. Minot nipped West Fargo (338-328) for first. Complete individual results were not available.
The Blue Jays don’t have a meet this week. They duel North in Fargo Sept. 10, before hosting the Blue Jay Relays Sept. 12.
