Vehicle flees after hitting bicyclist

Cass County authorities are looking for the driver who fled in his or her car after striking a bicyclist near Harwood. The sheriff’s department said 28-year-old Jennifer Walla of Fargo was biking in a residential area about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when she was struck from behind. The vehicle, which didn’t stop, veered into the oncoming lane and nearly forced a motorcycle off the road.

HARWOOD, N.D. (AP) — Cass County authorities are looking for the driver who fled in his or her car after striking a bicyclist near Harwood.

The sheriff’s department said 28-year-old Jennifer Walla of Fargo was biking in a residential area about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when she was struck from behind. The vehicle, which didn’t stop, veered into the oncoming lane and nearly forced a motorcycle off the road.

Walla was flown from the scene by a MeritCare Medical Center ambulance. She was out of the hospital on Sunday.

The sheriff’s department said Walla had flashing lights on her bike and on her body to alert drivers to her presence.
