Emmons County still recovering from floods
Officials in south central North Dakota's Emmons County say there is a lot of work still to do as the county recovers from spring flooding.
LINTON, N.D. (AP) — Officials in south central North Dakota's Emmons County say there is a lot of work still to do as the county recovers from spring flooding.
Emergency Manager Shawna Paul says road repairs in the county won't get finished this year. And she says some people in the city of Linton still have not been able to return to their homes. She says some might never be able to return.
The swollen Beaver Creek and Spring Creek washed out bridges and roads and flooded more than 70 homes in Linton last spring.
Paul says the county is looking at a number of steps to prevent a repeat, including dike construction and home buyouts. She says the goal is to rebuild and improve conditions without losing any residents.
