Jamestown World War II veteran Russell Krueger will be honored by Northern Valley Honor Flight with a complimentary trip to Washington, D.C., in September.
Krueger will join nearly 100 area WWII veterans from North Dakota and Minnesota, and 50 volunteers, for a two-day trip to the nation’s capital. The highlight will be a visit to the World War II Memorial, which opened in 2004. All veterans travel free of charge.
The committee is still in need of nearly $40,000 in donations for the trip. Donations are accepted through the NVHF Web site, nvhonorflight.com. The NVHF mailing address is: P.O. Box 12905, Grand Forks, ND 58208-2905.
“All of the contributions will be used to support our second trip to Washington, D.C,” said Barb Zavala, committee president. “It’s a great way to say ‘thanks’ to a special WWII veteran or any veteran for their military service.”
Veterans’ applications are still being accepted for the trip. For more information, contact Grand Forks County Veterans Services at 701-780-8296.
